Recently I got some emails from users that they are not able to re-install my app Week View although they already purchased it. This is strange since usually you can always re-install an app you purchased once.
I tested this myself and did not find any problems reinstalling Week View from the windows phone store. Yes, even as the developer of the app, I have to buy (and pay) it, when I want to install it from the marketplace. The purchase process is handled by MS and as I developer I have absolutely no control over it – MS also takes 30% of the revenue for this „service“.
Since I got more and more error reports and even bad marketplace ratings like „…the app is good but the developer tries to trick you – you have to purchase the app again, if you want to install it on a new phone…“ (which of course is NOT true) I searched for the source of the problem and soon found this article: http://www.windowscentral.com/new-windows-phone-store-woes-hit-apps
As expected this is a marketplace problem…so if you experience this problem too, I can only suggest to follow the advice from the article above: Do NOT but the app (any app) again and hopefully MS fixes this soon. 🙁
For now, we of course recommend that you don’t buy the app again and instead hold off until things get sorted by Microsoft. Also, you can spare any developers your wrath, as it’s not their fault—they’re not trying to double dip.
Sorry for this problem but I hope it’s clear that this problem has nothing to do with my (or any other) apps.
